NH Women Talk About Princess Diana
I was crushed when Princess Diana died. I looked
to her as an intelligent and caring woman who gave of herself.
Her death affected me deeply because I admired her grace under
fire, her compassion, and her ability to be a good mother while
the royal family continued to publically judge her harshly.
She impressed me with her consistent stay strong attitude and
ability to do the work that needed to be done no matter what
the consequences.
She is one of the people I talk to when I meditate looking
inside for help. She was a strong beautiful inspiration to me.

I was in high school when Princess Diana
married Prince Charles. At that stage of my life, I was
impressed with how Diana carried herself, thrust in the spotlight
as she was, but she still seemed to maintain her innocent charm. I
remember thinking how very difficult it must be to take on
such a large responsibility of becoming a member of the royal
family, but as a teenager, I couldn’t imagine the scope
of how much scrutiny she would come under. As her life unfolded
through the media, I kept rooting for her, hoping the public
lifestyle she had chosen would not take away that charm she
possessed.
Diana touched the world with her determination to raise her family
despite being a very public figure. She showed that she had strong convictions,
and even though her actions earned her disapproval from her royal family, Diana
persisted in what she believed in. Even until the end, she did what she
wanted
to do, whether you agree with her actions or not - she did the
best with what she could.

I think she made a profound statement
to the world. She showed that the British monarchy does
not have to be cold and stuffy in order to fulfill its duties. She
exuded warmth and made people comfortable in greeting her. She
had a demeanor that gave promise to people that the monarchy
would, indeed, survive, loosen up and relate better to the
people. She made people forget that she always has been
part of the aristocracy and wasn’t born as a commoner.
The fact that Princess Diana was young, attractive, charming, and personable
with heads of state as well as commoners worked in her favor. One does
not need to be royal in order to do that. But, being royal certainly opened
doors for her. Like many of the rich and famous, she had access to people,
places, and things that most of us wouldn’t have.
She paid the ultimate price for the fame that came with marrying
the man she loved.

She appeared to be a courteous, kind, and thoughtful
person who was an inspiration to put into action beliefs. She
seemed to display character and interaction with people. I
had no direct contact with her, but did appreciate her life
and actions.

princess. When she died, an era died with her.”
- Helena N. Portsmouth, NH |
“She was such a strong woman. She
was very classic. She raised her boys to be humanitarians,
like herself.”
- Sarah, Durham, NH |
“I think her story was so tragic. Can
you imagine what she would be doing if she were still alive
today?”
