Spring Fever Party
By Mary Lou Wilson
From the April 2006
Issue of Applaud Magazine
Spring has arrived and just as peoples have for centuries, celebrate
the season with a party. Changes in temperatures, which in New
Hampshire can swing from below freezing to 90 +, add to the
challenge. The promise of longer days and warmer weather is
just what the doctor ordered. A party is just the thing to help
kick the season in gear! Plan a “Spring Fever Party”
– complete with “the medicine” to make it
work. A party is the perfect prescription. Create the invitation
in the form of a thermometer; instead of degrees on the thermometer,
use terms like daffodil, daylight, warm breeze, etc.
Nothing says spring like baseball - plan your own “Opening
Day” festivities. Serve popcorn, pretzels and hot dogs
with mustard. Have everyone wear their favorite baseball cap,
plan a fantasy baseball game, or play baseball Trivia.
Not a baseball fan? How about a “Tea Party”? Decorate
with flowers everywhere; flowering potted plants, tea sandwiches
accented with edible flowers on the plates, tea served in floral
teacups. Play classical music in the background. Plan a “Wild
Sunglass” contest and cheer the start of spring.
(Centerpiece idea - Fill a narrow glass vase with spring flowers,
place this vase inside a large glass bowl and fill the bowl
half way with water)
