Hello Readers.
I want to again
address the layout of the magazine. I am hearing positive
and negative things about it. The Pros are saying that it’s
too busy, needs more white space and professional photos for
the writers. I consider this a work in progress and am grateful
for the input that I receive. Although I have three college
degrees none of them is in graphic design, I have only a certificate.
Funny how life works. The one thing I love the best I have
the least education in. So I am learning as I go. Just to
let you know that I am listening, all of my writers have professional
photos and I have made some exciting new changes to the layout
which include more white space and organization. I hope this
helps my readers.
I want you all
to know that I want Applaud to be more then just a magazine.
I want it to become a community, where women in New Hampshire
are represented for their uniqueness; where they can learn
and be inspired by each other; where they will be listened
to and where they can communicate with the writers who provide
material on issues that concern them. We always include contact
information for our writers with each article so that you
can contact them with questions. Our website will shortly
have email links to the writers as well. One of the things
that has also been added to the website is a forum. I encourage
you all to use this as a method of communicating with each
other. I believe that each of us has something of worth to
share. I am hoping that you will use the forum to give and
receive information, inspiration and of course to communicate
to us about what you think of our articles.
My background is somewhat different from most of you. I come
from New York (relax I’ve been here for over 30 years,
so I’m approved). One of my first memories is of my
Mom sitting in front of her vanity refreshing her makeup before
my Dad came home from work. So I learned the importance of
taking those few extra minutes to make the best of my appearance.
I have noticed after being in New Hampshire that many women
don’t take that time. I’m not sure why, maybe
there is more then one reason. I know one woman said recently
that she just didn’t know what product to use. So I
thought this issue would be a good opportunity to give you
some options for changing your physical appearance.
Remember that by the very act of investing the extra time
into yourself you are saying – ‘I value myself
and I value what God gave me so I’m going to make the
most of it’. If you still need more information about
what things you can do with your particular face you can always
consult an makeup artist like Kriss Soterion (Kriss has a
very great line of products for sale) or just call a Mary
Kay representative. Mary Kay offers free makeovers and their
products are also very good.
So with this theme in mind and since most of us start off
each new year by looking at ourselves to determine what kind
of positive changes we can make, I offer you some information
to help you decide what, if any, positive changes you would
like to make in 2006. We have included an exciting makeover,
to illustrate how the beauty in one woman can be hidden but
reclaimed after a little help. We have an article illustrating
what you can do to always have your makeup on. Another article
describes the importance of wearing the correct size bra.
And, don’t miss our makeup tips article. Finally, we’ve
included a page of testimonials from the male segment of the
population just to show you how valued we are by the men we
work with.
